Dippy is on display at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, which is located in Coventry city centre, next to its historic Cathedral and a short walk from both Coventry Rail Station and Pool Meadow Bus Station.

Travelling by Car

 

The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum does not have an on-site car park, but there are several car parks within walking distance. The nearest are Gosford Street Car Park and Salt Lane Multi-storey Car Park. More info about parking in Coventry can be found on the Coventry City Council website.

There are two parking spaces available for Blue Badge holders on Bayley Lane opposite the museum.

To find us from Coventry inner ring-road, turn off at Junction 3 or 5 and follow the brown signs for the Herbert. Alternatively, a park and ride service for the city centre operates from the War Memorial Park, Kenilworth Road to the south of the city. 

 

Travelling by Train

 

The Herbert is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from Coventry Rail Station, and there are also buses and taxis available just outside the station, as well as a Visitor Information stand. 

 

Travelling by Bus

 

All Coventry buses terminate in the city centre, and most stop at Pool Meadow Bus Station, which is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the Herbert. Most buses in Coventry are operated by National Express, and you can use their interactive planning tool to help you plan your journey. 

 

When you arrive

 

If you have booked to see Dippy, you will need to enter the museum via the front entrance off University Square. This is the entrance nearest to Coventry Cathedral. 

Please have your mobile or printed tickets ready for checking by a member of staff.

 

Accessibility

 

There are two parking spaces for Blue Badge holders on Bayley Lane opposite the museum.

Inside the museum, we have accessible toilets on both the ground floor and first floor. Baby changing facilities are available on the ground floor. 

There is level access to each gallery floor and a lift to transfer between floors. The customer lift is located inside the Covered Court, next to Dippy. 

Gallery text panels and printed information have been designed to be easy to read, but please note that lighting levels may vary between exhibition areas.

Food and Drink

 

Our on-site café, Alfred’s, serves a selection of hot and cold drinks, as well as freshly made sandwiches, salads, cakes and snacks. 

Vegan and vegetarian options are available, including alternative milks. If you have any dietary requirements, please speak with a member of staff who will be happy to assist you.

We kindly request that you do not use our café space to consume food or drink which has been purchased elsewhere.

 

Shop

 

A range of souvenirs, gifts and cards are available from our on-site shop, including a selection of dinosaur-themed items to celebrate Dippy’s arrival in the city. 

Please note that any purchases made online with your tickets will need to be collected in-person from our shop.
